Getting Started

Thank you for shopping with TahoeHighSierra.com. Our Made-in-Tahoe and Made-for-Tahoe shopping pages highlight Tahoe Makers and products. Our goal is to present products for Lake Tahoe lovers and provide you with an enjoyable and convenient online shopping experience.

Products are shown from a variety of sources, which are always clearly identified.

Some items are sold directly from the maker, such as Gairin Celtic Music Lake Tahoe musicians.

You will also find products sold by Amazon. We are an official participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

Finding the Tahoe Products You are Looking For

To get started, just use click on an image or link. Convenient links appear on the pages. If you are shopping on a desktop PC or high-end mobile device with larger format screen, the links appear in the right column. On mobile devices, scroll down to see the links.

Placing Your Order

Your order will be processed by the shopping site identified on the product page. If it's Amazon, then you will use your current Amazon account to add an item to your cart and take it from there all the way from choosing, paying on Amazon and receiving your order from Amazon. In this case, we have no knowledge of your order, since Amazon takes over and has their own privacy policy and ordering process.

Another way to pay for non-Amazon products is via paypal, when you see the paypal button. In this case, your paypal and credit card information are all secured by paypal. We will receive a notification of your payment, and will adhere to paypal's standards for prompt shipping and customer service.

If you ever have any questions about your order during the ordering billing and shipping process, all you have to do is call or email us and you will receive a prompt response. Just click on the Contact Us link that appears on the footer of all our pages.

Ordering Help

About Stock Quantities Displayed on our Web Site

At TahoeHighSierra.com we make every effort to make sure that the items we display for sale on our Web site are actually in stock and ready for sale. Because we link directly to only well known trusted sellers, you can be sure to trust their stock quantities.

So that you will know the most current availability of each product, we may display the Quantity in Stock on each product page. The Quantity in Stock for each product is updated whenever it changes, to reflect actual inventory, and we do not take orders for out-of-stock items. This means that we do our best to make sure that you always see items that are actually in stock on TahoeHighSierra.com, and you also see how many of each item is available.

The Quantity in Stock on some pages shows a tally of the quantity available today. So, the quantity you see on the Web page for each item shows its availability nationwide. When displayed, we make every attempt possible to keep the Quantity in Stock up to date for all products, so that you will not have to worry about availability when placing your order.

However, you will understand that we do not contol Amazon's stock quantities, in which case you are viewing and purchasing items directly from the Amazon web site. (The above section was updated 2/27/2017)

Tracking for Your Orders

When your order is shipped, you will receive an email notice of shipping and FedEx or USPS tracking number. Tracking numbers are used by shippers to identify and trace every package as it travels to its destination. Included on your notice will be instructions for how to use the tracking number.

Shipping & Returns Help

Shipping/Handling Costs and Times

We bill for Federal Express, UPS or US Post Office shipping to your location from ours (Carson City, NV 89702). Our shipping calculation is usually the same or just a couple dollars more than our actual cost. We do not attempt to mark up shipping, so there is not really any handling fee.

We choose the most economical and reliable shipping service for each order. Due to the nature of the some products we sell (hazmats like pepper sprays and expensive orders that require adult signature, customer special requests, and so on) we decide whether UPS, US Post Office or FedEx will be best for each particular order, based on our experience with the different shipping options. Generally, we choose FedEx due to our experience with their superior reliability, tracking and competitive pricing. APO orders must go via US Post Office Priority Mail. When your order ships, you receive an email message with the tracking number and instructions for how to track your order's delivery progress. Or, you will receive the usual shipping notifications of the advertiser. (Please scroll up on this page to the Ordering Help section for details about Tracking Your Orders.)

Our Return Policy

For Amazon purchases, please read the Amazon return policy, in the case of Amazon.com orders, and skip the rest of this section.

In the case of direct purchases please read the following return policy before making your purchase or contacting us about returns. Then, contact us with any questions you may have. Scroll to the bottom of this page for contact info.

Paying by paypal? Please refer to the paypal returns and cancellation policies, which we always comply with as a paypal merchant.

Any return of a purchased product is at the sole discretion of TahoeHighSierra.com. Returns are processed on a case-by-case basis, and the item must be unopened & unused in the original package. This is because we must be able to resell the item as a new item.

Most orders ship within 24 hours. Therefore, for the purpose of this policy Cancellations are the same as Returns. (See Additional Return Policy Information Regarding Cancellations at the bottom of this section for details.)

We do not guarantee that you can return all items.

If an item was damaged in shipment, it is the customer's responsibility to initiate a shipping damage claim from the shipper: UPS, FedEx or US Post Office. We will provide information about how to initiate a claim, upon request. However, we do not prepay shipping damage claims, because this is a matter between the recipient and the shipping company.

If we agree to return an item, a restocking fee may be applied before refunding your payment. Our restocking fee is 25% of the price you paid for the item, depending on the item, with a minimum of $10. This is necessary to cover the costs of acquiring, shipping and reselling items that have been returned. Therefore, please make sure you have answered all your pre-sales questions and that you want an item before placing your order for it. We do not refund initial shipping charges or return shipping charges.

We do not promise to refund shipping. However, if for some exception at our discretion we agree to reimburse or refund shipping charges, the reimbursed amount can not exceed the original shipping amount on your order. For example, if you have the UPS Store repackage and ship your item, or if you decide to ship via expedited rates, we do not reimburse the additional charges over and above the shipping you paid on your original order.

In cases where the returned item may be approved for reimbursement or exchange, and a replacement item is sent before the returning item has been received by us - your credit card will be billed for the item and then credited later on, after your return item has been received.

Items can only be returned within 30 days of date-of-order. (Return Policy Updated 08/12/10)

Important: You must request a return authorization before returning your item, or it will be refused at the post office. It's easy to receive a return authorization by sending your order information to us in an email message.

All manufacturers' warranties, restrictions and conditions apply to the items you purchase. This means that any defects in manufacturing will be covered by the manufacturers' warranty shipping insurance. In case of manufacturers' defects and warranty repairs, TahoeHighSierra.com will provide instructions for contacting the manufacturer.

In the case of shipping damage, we will process a shipping claim with the shipper (Federal Express, United Parcel Service or US Post Office, and you will be refunded upon settlement or earlier, depending on the conditions of your loss (decided on a case-by-case basis by the shipper).

We want you to feel completely secure when ordering from TahoeHighSierra.com. We use a technology called Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), which encrypts (or encodes) sensitive information before it is sent over the Internet. We are a Networksolutions Approved Secure Site.

What Personal Information We Collect

When you shop with an advertiser, we collect no information at all. Refer to the advertisers' web site for their privacy policy.

For orders directly through TahoeHighSierra.com, we collect personal information that you choose to provide voluntarily when using the TahoeHighSierra.com Web site. This information includes your email address and a password when you register to create your TahoeHighSierra.com account. You can browse our online store without registering, but you will need to enter your information when you purchase something, so that we can process and ship your order. We may also ask for personal information when you contact our Help Desk. This will allow us to protect your confidentiality by verifying your identity.

TahoeHighSierra.com does not intentionally collect personal information about children under the age of 13. If you are under 13 and would like to shop at TahoeHighSierra.com, please ask a parent or guardian for assistance.

Purchase Information

When you make a purchase using a credit card, paypal collects your information amd we do not see it. We do receive your name and address and paypal confirmation that you have paid, which we need in order to ship your order.

When you place your order at TahoeHighSierra.com, if your order is not through Amazon or paypal, we may save your billing information in our files. We may need save your name and shipping address in our files, in order to ship your item. On a regular basis, such as yearly, we delete your information from our files.

Cookies and Other Computer Information

When you visit TahoeHighSierra.com, you may be assigned a temporary cookie (a small text file) to be stored on your computer's hard drive. The purpose of the cookie is to identify you when you visit our site, so you can put items in your shopping cart and place your order.

When you enter a secure portion of our site (which is any page containing any of your personal information), an image of a closed lock or a solid key should appear in the bottom bar of your browser window. If you click on this image, a small popup window displaying site-security information will appear. This certificate guarantees that your personal information is being transmitted in secure (encrypted) form to a TahoeHighSierra.com Web server, not to some unknown or unauthorized server.

This Privacy Policy has been in effect since it was first posted on TahoeHighSierra.com on May 28, 2011. We reserve the right to change, modify or amend this policy at any time.
